BOTOX® is a medication used to temporarily paralyze muscle function. It stands for Botulism Toxoid. It was created originally to treat certain eye conditions, mainly crossed eyes. BOTOX® was found to relieve facial spasms and neck banding when injected at these sites. This results in smoother and younger looking skin around the injected areas.
Physicians are now utilizing BOTOX® to erase wrinkles and relax muscles in specific facial areas such as vertical forehead frown creases and crow's-feet around the eyes. Some physicians use it to minimize neck banding. This use will give a younger looking skin to the face and neck without surgery.
